Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02cm) in height overall consisting of a purple enamel globe with gold gridlines, surmounted by a white enamel scroll opened horizontally and rolled at each end, in base overall a gray enamel mountain above a gold opened wreath, on the left side an olive branch and on the right oak leaves, surmounted overall a vertical unsheathed gold sword supporting a pair of gold scales, at the top a semi-circular gold scroll folded back at each end, terminating behind the mountain, and inscribed "JUSTICE WITH HONOR" in scarlet enamel letters.

Symbolism
The globe refers to the group's global capabilities. The olive branch with the oak leaves symbolizes the organization's strength and achievements in war and peace. The scroll, the sword, and the pair of scales all allude to the unit's mission to maintain civil order with justice and to support combat and post combat phases of military operations. The mountain represents Stone Mountain near Atlanta, one of the largest exposed granite masses in North America, and the area where the unit was originally constituted and is now stationed. Purple and white are colors used for Civil Affairs.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 21 Oct 1971.
